Dr. R. Donald Doherty Jr.

Dr. Doherty earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1997 where he also completed his residency training in diagnostic radiology.

Following his residency, Dr. Doherty received fellowship training in angiography and interventional radiology at the University of Virginia.

At MCV, Dr. Doherty was a research fellow in rheumatology, allergy and immunology.
From 1999-2002, he served as a medical examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

He was the 2002 recipient of the Ellen Shaw de Paredes Breast Research Award at MCV.

Since 2003 he has been practicing at Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg in Virginia. He joined Virginia Interventional Vascular Associates in 2006.

Dr. Doherty is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, Diagnostic Radiology. He has earned the Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is a registered vascular technologist with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Dr. Doherty is an active member of the American College of Radiology, the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of Virginia.
