Dr. Doherty to Discuss Uterine Fibroid Treatments at June 16 Event

Dr. R. Donald Doherty, Jr., interventional radiologist with Virginia Interventional & Vascular Associates, will discuss uterine fibroid treatments 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, in Classrooms 5 and 6 of Stafford Hospital. The Pelvic Health and Uterine Fibroids Seminar is sponsored by the Mary Washington Healthcare Women’s Health Institute as part of its Spirit of Women seminar series.

Dr. Shelly James, an obstetrician-gynecologist, also will speak at the event. The seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding perimenopause and heavy periods
  • The facts of fibroids
  • Effective treatments for urinary incontinence
  • The perils of a weak pelvis
  • Increasing sexual response
  • Vaginal reconstructive surgery
